Sunreef Building New 60 with Solar Power

Sunreef Yachts just announced that it’s building a new 60 Sunreef Power Eco luxury power cat that seems to be covered with Sunreef’s proprietary state-of-the art solar panels for art totally green cruising.

Indeed, the solar panels cover up to 738 square feet of the yacht’s surface; they’re fully integrated into the hull sides, the superstructure and even curved areas all over the yacht. They are designed to generate 13kWp of solar  power.

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco uses cutting-edge electric motors powered by a dedicated ultralight battery bank for silent and emissions-free cruising. The big cat’s other green features include wind generators and eco-responsible finishing materials.

Built at the Sunreef factory in Gdansk, Poland, the 60 Power Eco has two 100kW generators and a battery bank producing 250-kW to 320kW.

Sunreef emphasizes that it can customize the interior per the owner’s wishes, but the basic accommodations include four large cabins on the cat’s lower level, two on each side, all with en suite heads. Two crew cabins can be added.

The amount of interior and exterior space is vast, making use of the yachts 35-foot-plus beam (more than half its length). An enormous, full-beam “terrace” is on the foredeck, with lounging and sunning space for a crowd. The flybridge is large enough for a spa pool, a dining area and oversized sun pads.

Natural sunlight flows into the salon from windows all around. There’s a seating and dining area on the port side and a galley to starboard.

We don’t have any performance information yet for the 60 Power Eco’s cruising and top speeds or its range. Stay tuned.
