Azimut Launching New 68 World Yacht

Azimut will launch its new 68 at the Cannes Yachting Festival starting Sept. 7, the latest in its Flybridge Collection of nine yachts from 50 to 78 feet. Azimut calls the 68 a world yacht, because it offers buyers three layout choices for the salon and dining areas on the main deck.

With its growing popularity around the world, Azimut recognizes that people in different cultures use their yachts in different ways. Now they can choose the layout that best reflects how they like to spend their time on board.

The first layout provides an elegant living area in the salon with the galley tucked away behind a surface of wood and plexiglass. The galley is closed for privacy, but light can flow through the area.

In the second layout, for owners who want a larger social area, the galley is in a discreet location near the bow and opens directly into the dining area, which can be converted into a second lounge.

The third choice is less formal, with the galley aft, giving easy access to the cockpit as well as the salon. The dining area is immediately opposite the galley as you enter from the cockpit.

The Azimut 68 is a four-cabin, three-head yacht with a separate cabin for one or two crew. It’s powered by twin 1,000-hp, IPS1350 pod drives, giving it a top speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots. It has carbon fiber in the superstructure, the hardtop and part of the deck, providing a low center of gravity for stability and cruising comfort.

The foredeck has a large sofa lounge at the base of the windshield, with a teak table. A sun lounge is farther forward with adjustable seating. Aft, the cockpit has a large U-shaped sofa across the transom facing a table with occasional chairs. You walk down three steps on either side to the large teak swim platform.
