Sessa Launches Innovative Fly 68 Gullwing

Sessa has launched its innovative, open Fly 68 Gullwing, with original glass doors that fold up from the sides of the salon. If they remind you of the iconic Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing (produced from 1954 to 1963), that’s not an accident.

The Sessa gullwings create a large opening in the salon; they fold  up and out of the way, providing immediate access to the wide side decks while flooding the salon with light and fresh air.

With its raked-back windshield, low, open flybridge, windows all around and enormous sun pad on the foredeck, the new Sessa flagship is a statement of modern Italian design and engineering. Indeed, the open-style salon is made to look more like a stylish apartment in Milan than the traditional main deck of a yacht.

In the salon, two seats face the helm on the starboard side. A table and then a large sofa are aft. A seating area and then the galley are on the port side. A raised sun lounge is in the cockpit; it can be raised to provide access to the garage underneath.

Below, the Sessa 68 has four staterooms and three heads. The master is full-beam amidships, with lots of moving-around space and an apartment-sized head and shower. The VIP stateroom is forward, with a queen-sized berth and an en suite head and shower. Two smaller cabins, each with twin berths, are a bit aft; they share the day head.

The helm in the low-slung flybridge is a step down from the rest of that space, like a sunken area on the bridge. A dinette, table, wet bar and sun lounges are aft.

Owners can choose Volvo Penta IPS pod drives or straight-shaft MANs for power. With 900-hp IPS1200 drives, the Sessa 68 tops out at about 30 knots. With upgraded 1,360-hp MANs, it hits 37 knots.

For colors, the yacht is available in Silver Metallic, Air-Blue Metallic, or Gold Metallic.

Specs.: LOA: 69’0”; Beam: 16’7”; Draft: 5’5”: Disp.: 63,000 lbs.: Fuel: 845 gals.; Water: 264 gals.; Power: 2×900-hp Volvo IPS1200 pod drives, or 2×1,360-hp MANs. Read more at http://sessamarine.com and see the video below:
