Vicem Offers Restyled 65 Classic in Fiberglass

Vicem, the highly regarded Turkish builder, is reintroducing its restyled and re-engineered 65 Classic yacht, but this time owners have a choice of building it in cold-molded wood (per the 2018 original) or in fiberglass.

The company says it has moved to the fiberglass option for a faster build time, as well as for lower maintenance costs. It now has three of the new 65 Classics under construction, two in fiberglass and one cold-molded.

The latest version of the 65, with its low profile, long sheerline, beautiful tumblehome and timeless Downeast-style looks, has a new full-beam master stateroom amidships. It also has larger windows and portlights, particularly on the sides and front of the salon, designed to improve visibility from the helm and provide more natural light inside the yacht.

Vicem offers fully custom interiors, primarily relying on hand-laid mahogany. The salon has unusually high headroom and lots of volume for comfortable living and entertaining on board.

Standard power comes from twin 800-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives, giving the 65 a cruising speed of 23 knots and a top speed of about 28 knots. The engine room is set aft, under the cockpit, providing maximum flexibility for interior accommodations as well as reducing engine noise inside the living areas.

In a three-cabin layout, the galley is below, on the accommodations deck, opening up the salon for larger and more flexible seating and entertaining areas.

Owners can order the new 65 in either a sedan or flybridge version.

Specs. (for original cold-molded yacht): LOA: 66’5”; Beam: 17’6”; Draft: 5’5”; Disp.: 65,000 lbs.; Fuel: 1,188 gals.; Water: 260 gals.; Power: 2×800-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives. Read more:
