Vripack Launches Luxury Version of California 52

Vripack, the Dutch yacht design studio that is working with Nordhavn for some of its larger yachts, just launched a semi-custom California 52 XT weekender in Ibiza. Built by Waterdream in the Netherlands, the California 52 XT is bound to turn heads anywhere in the world, and it has a two-tone paint job that matches the colors of a BMW M8.

Waterdream, founded by Prince Bernhard van Oranje of the Netherlands, won the Best Innovation Award at the Cannes World Yacht Trophies with the California 52 last year. At that point, the Prince got the idea to make a special edition, emphasizing high-quality, sustainable and timeless design. The new boat, he says, “is a super-classy edition to our California 52 range.”

The 52 XT has an extended multi-function swim platform that can be used for easy boarding or launching jet skis. And it has fine leather finishing and Alcantara sun beds and ceiling below.

It’s built with an aluminum hull; the company says that strong aluminum construction does not require bulkheads, so that owners can customize the interiors easily. For overnights, a seating area forward can be converted to a bed, while single beds under the cockpit slide together to make a double.

Power choices include twin 600-hp Volvo IPS800 pod drives, for a top speed of 42 knots, or IPS1200s for 50 knots. Color choices include Midnight Blue or Majestic Green, just the same as BMW’s M8.

Specs.: LOA: 52’0”; Beam: 14’1”; Draft: 3’9”; Disp.: 37,000 lbs.; Fuel: 422 gals.; Water: 105 gals.; Power: 2×600-hp Volvo IPS800 pod drives, or 2×900-hp Volvo IPS1200 pod drives. Read more:
