Bruckmann Launches New, Elegant, Abaco 47 Downeast-Style Cruiser

Bruckmann just launched its new Abaco 47, an elegant, Downeast-styled cruiser and the flagship of the Canadian builder’s powerboat fleet. Designed by Mark Ellis, the Abaco 47 has a low profile, long sheer, and a sharp entry for a classic look, while the raked windshield adds a sporty, aggressive touch. Bruckmann Completing New Abaco 47 with Classic Downeast Lines

Bruckmann just took the hull of its beautiful, classic Mark Ellis-designed Abaco 47 out of the mold in its plant in Ontario, Canada, so the new cruiser should be in the water by spring. The new Abaco 47, with its long sheer, low profile, sharp entry and raked windshield, is designed with the same proven hull form from the popular Bruckmann Abaco 40, which is remarkably efficient through a wide range of cruising speeds. The new 47 can be powered either by either a single 1,136-hp CAT C18 diesel, or by two 641-hp CAT C8.7s. Top speed with the single…

Bruckmann Plans New Abaco 47: As Elegant as the Abaco 40, but Bigger

Based on the performance and popularity of the Bruckmann Abaco 40, the Toronto-based builder is now planning a larger version, the Bruckmann Abaco 47, with more accommodations and space for long-range cruising and living aboard. The new 47, like the 40, is designed by Mark Ellis, and it still has the classic Downeast lines, straight-forward, traditional interior and fuel-efficient hull of the smaller boat. The Abaco 47’s hull is designed to perform well throughout the speed range; the boat comes up on plane at 12 knots. It can be powered by a single or twin diesels. With a single 1136-hp…

Bruckmann Abaco 40: A Salty Weekender

With its proud bow, classic Downeast lines and elegant fit and finish, the Mark Ellis-designed Bruckmann Abaco 40 offers a combination of traditional appeal with modern performance. Designed as a single-diesel weekender, the Bruckmann 40 is a master of salty understatement, although it tops out at about 30 knots and only sips about a gallon a mile at cruising speed of 24 knots. Based in Toronto, Canada, Bruckmann Yachts is a high-end sailboat builder, and that heritage shows in the Abaco 40; there’s nothing fancy here, just everything you need in just the right place. From the cockpit, you enter…
