Astra Rounds Horn on Epic Circumnavigation

Earlier this week, Iain Macneil and his crew rounded Cape Horn on his converted 77-foot rescue boat Astra, on week eight of what they hope is a record-breaking trip around every cape in the Southern Ocean. Macneil, the CEO of Witherbys, a maritime publishing company in Scotland and former Merchant Navy seaman, bought the boat more than a year ago and renovated it for the voyage. Dalton DeVos Completes Two-Year Circumnavigation on Nordhavn 76. He was 23 When He Started

Reliance, a Nordhavn 76, just completed a two-year circumnavigation, ending up in Fiji and becoming the 10th Nordhavn to circle the globe. What’s particularly remarkable about this voyage is that Dalton DeVos, the owner of Reliance, was 23 years old when he started the circumnavigation, making him by far the youngest Nordhavn owner to complete such a voyage. The other three members of the crew, including the captain, were all in their 20s. James Ellingford, a retired Australian business executive and avid cruiser, doesn’t like to live a humdrum life.
