Designed to be the ultimate cruising yacht, hull number one of the new Fleming 85 just arrived at Burr Yacht Sales in Stuart, Florida. Fleming Building New 25-knot, Ocean-Crossing 85

Fleming just announced that it’s building an all-new, 25-knot, flagship 85 ocean-crossing cruiser. The company says the goal is to make “the finest possible ocean-going pilothouse motoryacht in every respect.” In Fleming’s case, this is no idle talk. Over the years, Flemings have built up an almost cult following of owners and admirers, an adventuresome group who have cruised their Flemings all over the world. Many, if not all, have been inspired by Tony Fleming’s own stories and videos of cruising on his personal boat, a Fleming 65 named Venture. It’s not every boat company founder who cruises on his…

Cruising the Inside Passage on a Fleming 53

Here’s a great story, with lots of pictures, from Fleming Yachts, about how Anne and Bill Knorr bought a used Fleming 53 and lived their dream by cruising for 12 weeks and 3,200 nm from Anacortes, Washington, to Glacier Bay, Alaska, and back. Read Anne’s account here: For several years, two long, narrow maps have hung side-by-side in our garage, a colorful illustration of the waterways from Puget Sound to Southeast Alaska depicting the route along the Inside Passage. It has been a long-time dream of my husband and me to motor the entire passage from Anacortes, Washington, to Glacier…

Fall Boat Show Special: Boats 51 Feet and Up

Here’s a look at just some of the new cruising boats, 51 feet and up, that, in normal times, you’d probably see at the fall boat shows this year: KROGEN EXPRESS 52 Even with a flying bridge and raised pilothouse, the Krogen Express 52 manages to carry a classic low profile, enhanced by a long, flowing sheer line that emphasizes the boat’s distinctive profile. And the “Express” part of its name is not a misnomer: With twin 480-hp Yanmars the Krogen Express tops out at about 22 knots. Dial back to 8 knots and the boat has a range of…

Fleming Introduces New F78 Classic, a Blue-Water Cruiser, at Lauderdale Show

Fleming is introducing its new F78 Classic at the Fort Lauderdale show, an upgrade of its flagship 78 but with a redesigned flybridge and boat deck. With good reason, considering its success in cruising around the world, the company calls the F78 “the ultimate cruising yacht.” The Fleming 78 is built to European CE Category “A” standards, meaning it is a strong, well-engineered, go-anywhere, blue-water cruiser. Flemings are known for the exceptional engineering and attention to detail, inside and out. The redesigned 78 is an outgrowth of the Fleming 75 that was launched in 2000. Ten years later Fleming redesigned that…
