Garmin Unveils New, Faster, Chartplotters

 Garmin just introduced its new flagship GPSMAP 9000 chartplotter series, with 4K resolution, edge-to-edge clarity and a processor that’s seven times faster than previous versions. The new touchscreen chartplotters come in 19-, 22-, 24-, and 27-inch displays, representing the largest size in recreational boating. Prices start at $9,999. They will be available next month. Garmin just unveiled a new GMR xHD3 series of open-array radars with high-definition imaging and the latest technology for new levels of clarity and performance. The new xHD3 series uses scan averaging, a first for Garmin’s magnetron radar, to help filter sea clutter and interference to provide users with enhanced, consistent targets. MJM was the big winner at the Newport International Boat Show, walking away with two awards (Best Powerboat in the show and Best Powerboat Over 30 Feet), while Sabre won the People’s Choice award for the most popular boat, and the Garmin inReach Mini 2 Marine Bundle won the Best Electronics Award. Garmin Introduces New Boating Smartwatch

Garmin just introduced three models of the new quatix 7 GPS smartwatch that lets you navigate, check your boat’s engines and set an anchor alert, among many other things. The three models are the quatix 7, quatix 7 Sapphire, and quatix 7X Solar. The standard quatix 7 models are cased in a stainless-steel bezel with a Gorilla Glass lens. Garmin Launches New Surround View Docking System

Garmin just announced that it’s launching a new Surround View Camera System to enhance situational awareness and help with docking. The new system uses six cameras to maximize visibility all around the boat. Garmin says that Surround View gives captains a bird’s-eye, 360-degree view around the boat. This visibility lets captains see what’s around their boat’s perimeter in low-speed maneuvers in real time. Garmin Making New GPS-Based Marine Compass

Garmin just announced that it’s offering a new marine satellite compass to help make navigation safer and more accurate. The new MSC 10 has multi-band GNSS and a fully integrated attitude and reference system to provide accurate heading and position information.
