The Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan boat rescued ten people from Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan when their 30-foot boat started to sink. A Coast Guard rescue swimmer was able to get all ten to the Good Samaritan boat just before their boat sank. No one was injured in the accident. The Coast Guard said they received a distress call about 2:30 on Friday afternoon saying that a boat was taking on water in the bay along Lake Michigan. Coast Guard, Good Samaritans, Save Six After Their Boat Sinks Crossing Oregon Bar

The Coast Guard station at Winchester Bay received a distress call at 5:40 a.m. Friday, after a 24-foot pleasure craft sank while trying to cross the Umpqua Bar, sending six people into the 60-degree water. The website for the Beach Runner, a 32-foot Rampage sport fishing boat based in Wildwood, New Jersey, says, “Whether you want to fish the Delaware Bay or inshore shoals and reefs, the Beach Runner provides a fun, relaxing day for parties of one to six people.” On a recent Saturday, things didn’t work out that way. Good Samaritan Rescues 5 From Raft As Boat Burns, Sinks: See Video

Here’s a you-are-there video of a charter boat captain rescuing five people floating in a raft as their 74-foot fishing boat burns and sinks in the Gulf of Mexico. The captain, a true Good Samaritan, heard the distress call and even though he was 30 miles away, he sped to the rescue.
