Sabre Starting Work on New 31-Knot 58 Salon Express. Stay Tuned

Sabre Yachts is working on a new three-stateroom 58 Salon Express that it plans to launch early next fall. The new Down East cruiser will be powered by Volvo IPS950 pod drives and is expected to top out at 31 knots and cruise at 27 knots. The tooling is now underway. The hull mold will be delivered to the Sabre factory in Raymond, Maine, from the tooling shop in Rhode Island soon, with the deck tooling not far behind. Schaefer Yachts Launches New 580 Without a Steering Wheel, Just Volvo IPS Joystick

What’s missing from this picture? Here’s a close-up look at the helm station of a new Schaefer 580 yacht with just a Volvo Penta joystick. There’s no steering wheel at all on this new boat that made its debut at the recent Rio Boat Show in Brazil. The Burger Boat Company, one of the most historic names in American boating, just launched hull number one of its new aluminum Burger 48 Cruiser line with a christening ceremony that included the Mayor of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where Burgers are built. Fountaine Pajot, the prestigious French builder, has just released details about its new MY 40 power catamaran, with three cabins, two heads, Volvo IPS performance and simply space and more space everywhere. The 40 is built on the success of the MY 44, which has won three awards, including “European Powerboat of the Year 2018,” at the Düsseldorf show in January. Zeelander, the upscale Dutch builder, just completed a Z55 for a new customer who said he wanted “the fastest Zeelander ever built.” With twin Volvo IPS1350s delivering 2,000 hp, the new Zeelander 55 tops out at 42 knots; the traditional Z55, with twin IPS950s and 1,450 hp, tops out at 33 knots.
