Mazu Now Offering Navionics Charts for Fast, Seamless Navigation and Weather Routing

In a move to make navigation easier and more seamless, mazu just announced at the Seattle boat show that it is now offering Navionics charts on its dashboard for more precise navigation, weather routing, trip planning and more. Users can choose between NOAA and other raster charts and Navionics’ detailed vector charts in the mazu app. Navionics charts open directly in mazu, although you need a Navionics subscription in the Navionics boating app first. Navionics To Remap South Florida Waters Hit by Irma; Will Work with Local Community

When Hurricane Irma hit Florida on Sept. 10, it damaged marine resources, changing and rearranging shorelines and bottom contours, making existing charts and maps out of date. Now, Navionics, working with industry leaders and the South Florida boating community, is starting an effort to remap the area’s marine and inland waterways to make them safer in the future. The month-long remapping will start on Jan. 19, and individual boaters can help. Garmin Buys Navionics, Gets Its Charts and Apps

Garmin’s fast-growing marine business just got bigger. The publicly-traded electronics giant (GRMN, Nasdaq) just bought Navionics, the privately-held provider of navigation charts and mobile applications. “Navionics has long been known as a leading supplier of highly accurate navigational charts and mobile applications for boaters,” said Cliff Pemble, Garmin president and CEO. “By combining Navionics’ content with Garmin’s BlueChart and LakeVu content, we will be able to offer the best available breadth and depth of coverage to our marine customers.” Pemble said that Garmin, a world-wide company based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, will keep the Navionics brand and support Navionics’ customers. Two of the strongest names in marine electronics, Navionics and Raymarine, have collaborated to offer powerful, information-rich and user-friendly features for Raymarine multifunction displays using Lighthouse 2 operating systems.
