Two Oceans Launching 870 Blue-Water Cat

Two Oceans is almost finished building its new 870 blue-water, power catamaran in its plant in Cape Town, South Africa. Powered by twin 715-hp Cummins diesels, the new Two Oceans is designed as a luxury home on the water that can cross oceans and carry its owners safely to destinations around the world.

Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing was founded in 1989. For the past three years, their smaller catamarans, as well as an ECLIPSE line of 50- and 60-foot outboard-powered, express cruisers, have been sold by HMY Yacht Sales in the U.S.

If you think, correctly, that a three-deck, 87-foot power catamaran with an almost 40-foot beam has a lot of room, consider this: The owner’s stateroom occupies the entire deck between the salon and the flybridge, and it comes with a steam room, shower, full-sized bathtub, walk-in closets, coffee station, and private fore and aft terraces.

The guests’ rooms aren’t too shabby either. There’s one VIP guest stateroom and one regular stateroom in each hull, but remember that each hull stretches out to 87 feet.

On the main level, the salon has a home-like main lounge, a TV room, a dining area, a fully equipped galley with top-line appliances, and a lower helm. Up top, the flybridge has the upper helm, a spacious lounge, bar, “nap area” and panoramic views.

The aft cockpit is simply enormous, with an aft teak table and seating for al fresco dining. The space is made even larger by terraces that fold out of the bulwarks on each side. Wide steps lead down to the water port and starboard. The swim platform, the heart of the beach club, is centered.

The tender is housed on the owner’s deck with a crane and davit. Two jet-skis are housed on the foredeck, also with a crane for launching.

Specs.: LOA: 87’2”; Beam: 39’4”’;  Draft: 2’7”; Disp.: 109,780 lbs.; Fuel: 3,000 gals.; Water: 792 gals.; Power: 2×715 Cumming diesels.
