The Moorings’ Ultimate Dive Charters in the BVI

The Moorings, the world’s premier yacht charter company since 1969, has just come up with a new idea: The Ultimate Dive Vacation in the British Virgin Islands. This sounds like a natural to me, a combination of a luxurious Moorings 5800 catamaran with a seven-day dive charter in some of the most beautiful water on the planet.

On the Ultimate Dive Vacation you get a captain, who’s a PADI-certified dive instructor, plus a gourmet chef and host; all told, the crew members have over 30 year of experience in hospitality and water sports. Over the course of the charter week, they’ll take you to some stunning underwater attractions, the Wreck of the Rhone, for openers, plus colorful coral reefs throughout the islands; you’ll have shallow dives, blue-water dives and an optional night dive. You won’t get tired of seeing the same site over and over again; the BVI has 73 different designated dive sites.  And you don’t need to worry about hooking up with a dive boat. All dives start and end on the 5800’s large swim platform.

The 5800 is the flagship of the Moorings’ fleet with a modern, elegant layout. It can hold ten guests in five en suite guest cabins.  For a typical seven-day trip, a 6-dive package costs $395 per person; a 12-dive package costs $595 per person. Each package is priced per person; if you purchase a 6-dive package, for example, one person will have six opportunities to dive.

“If you’re a scuba diver,” says Josie Tucci, general manager of The Moorings, “this is the ultimate vacation experience. Just imagine waking up to a new view each morning, diving at your leisure and enjoying incredible meals along the way.”
