This is just too good, a great story about trying to rent a small powerboat in Venice. And who among us wouldn’t want to do this? I know I would. A few years ago when I was there with my wife on her birthday I asked at my hotel if I could rent a boat to drive us around myself, and all I got was a shrug; we headed for the gondola, instead. But here’s a story by an intrepid New York Times reporter who kept trying, only to find out that first, he had to have a license, and to get a license, he had to pass a test.
