How’s this for a luxury liveaboard, or a floating second home to cruise the canals and waterways of Europe? Savvy, a three-stateroom, three-head, 98-feet-long Dutch barge built in 2004 is for sale in London for $3.1 million.
With a steel hull and a 16-foot beam, Savvy was built by Hakvoort, with a contemporary interior by H2 Design, for cruising in shallow waters. It has already made trips down France’s Canal du Midi and other French canals. It is powered by the original ABB 110kW diesel-electric engine, which shows 3,200 hours. The barge cruises at 8.5 mph, and has a range of 955 miles.
It also has a reputation for excellence, among people who know about these things. Indeed, it was named best powerboat in the 23- to 32-meter category at the 2005 International Superyacht Society Awards in Monaco.
“Savvy has the boating prowess of a charter motor yacht while offering the high-end stylings of a penthouse apartment,” says Kier Waddell, the sales agent for the Knight Frank real estate firm. “It is suited for even the shallowest of waters, and it resides in a great location.” Savvy is now at Cadogan Pier on the north bank of the Thames in the Chelsea district of London.
The vessel has a light-filled salon, a nautical-themed dining room, a large U-shaped galley, and a covered and protected aft deck with a folding table, settee and chairs. The upper deck has built-in seating for entertaining and dining outdoors. There’s also a Jacuzzi.
The master stateroom is full-beam, with an en suite head and shower. The boat has two matching guest cabins; one converts to an office area. It also has two crew cabins that can sleep four, with a separate entrance, galley and head. Read more:
