You’ve got to admit that the new Lazzara LSX 85 makes a creative use of space. It’s a big yacht to begin with – 84’ 6” LOA – but then the bulwarks fold out of the aft deck, the transom folds down into a beach club, a side door drops down from the galley for a private dining area, and gull wings (think Mercedes 300 SL) open out of the salon.
Then there’s the performance. Lazzara has put three 1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 pod drives in the new sport cruiser, giving it a top speed of 40 knots, not bad for a luxury 85-foot yacht. Dialed back to a cruising speed of 35 knots, the boat has a range of 414 nm.
The Lazzara’s looks also are distinctive, with a plumb bow, low profile, and raked windshield. And there are windows everywhere, all along the sides of the lower accommodations deck, letting in lots of natural light to the three staterooms and separate crew quarters there, plus along the sides of the salon.
You can walk on the boat from the fold-down teak patio doors that turn the aft deck and swim platform into a giant beach club, with plush seating on sun lounges and sofas. There’s also a lounge and large sun pad on the foredeck.
The salon has a massive U-shaped settee on the port side, opposite an entertainment center, and an eight-person dining table. The helm station is forward to starboard, with stairs leading down to the lower deck and the galley with its fold-out balcony. The master stateroom is aft, and makes use of the boat’s full 20-foot beam.
Lazzara has its design office in Tampa, and it builds its boats in Turkey.
