Cruisers Yachts will introduce its new, outboard-powered 42 GLS, designed as a multi-purpose family boat, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, starting Oct. 28. With three 400-hp Mercury Verado outboards, the sporty new Cruisers tops out at 52 mph.

Cruisers emphasizes that the new 42 GLS is made for fun, entertaining, and enjoying your time on the water. In keeping with the current fashion, the bulwarks on both sides of the cockpit drop down to provide much more space and easy access to the water. Cruisers calls these dropdowns “beach doors,” and they connect to the swim platforms on both side of the outboards to form one large area for water sports.

The main deck has a galley up, with a fridge and sink; it’s connected to a raised wet bar with bar stools. A grill and TV are optional. There’s also U-shaped dinette seating. All the way aft, the bench seat can be adjusted to face aft, and the backrest can swivel to face the beach doors.

Below, the 42 GLS has a private aft stateroom with a custom-sized berth (with an inclined backrest so you can watch TV), reading lights, and storage. A U-shaped dinette converts to a berth. A lower galley has a fridge, microwave, and optional TV. There’s also a full head and shower.

Another large social area is on the bow, with lounge seating for sunning and relaxing.

Power options range from 350- to 450-hp Verados, with fingertip joystick controls for easy docking and slow-speed maneuvering. Cruisers are made in Oconto, Wisconsin.
