Arcadia Yachts knows when it’s on to a good thing. After it launched its new A85 about ten years ago, the Italian yard won a series of prizes for the yacht’s design and performance. Now it’s just launched hull number 18, with a totally redesigned interior by the Hot Lab design firm in Milan, which has won a series of awards in its own right.

“The A85 was an iconic model,” says Ugo Pellegrino, the sole director of Arcadia, and it “broke the pattern in one of the worst moments in yachting history.” Now, he said, “launching hull number 18 brought to mind how much we struggled – and won – to begin with.”

For his part, Enrico Lumini, the design head for Hot Lab, said, “When renewing the décor of the interiors, we focused on small style changes to create a fresh, modern mood. The wood essences, the marble in the bathrooms, and the leather and fabrics are all new. We then opted for a selection of desaturated colors, choosing classic marine shades and making them more modern at the same time.”

With its low profile, almost plumb bow and slightly rounded transom, the Arcadia 85 achieves a distinctive look. Inside, it has lots of living space, about 100 square yards, on the main deck, and the salon features almost floor to ceiling windows. The open galley is just aft of the pilothouse, with sliding doors to both side decks.

Below, the yacht has four staterooms and two crew cabins. The master is amidships and takes advantage of the Arcadia’s 23-foot beam; it has large side windows to let in lots of natural light. The VIP cabin is forward with a double bed and a walk-in closet. Two twin guest cabins are slightly aft. The two crew quarters are in the bow, with direct access to the galley and bridge for privacy.

The engine room is spacious, with lots of room to work around the twin 800-hp MAN diesels. And the garage is large enough to hold a 13-foot tender and two PWCs.
