The head-turning, eye-catching 40 Open Sunreef Diamond Limited Edition is now in Miami, and it’s bound to get a lot of attention even before you consider its 60-knot performance.

Sunreef, the Polish builder of both power and sail luxury cats, says the new 40 Open Sunreef Power “is an ultra-dynamic day cruiser taking speed and elegance to a whole new level,” and who’s to argue with that.

For the 40 Open Diamond Limited Edition, Sunreef worked with Jean Boulle Luxury  (currently named Sun King Diamonds) and AGL Marine to apply Sun King Diamond Coating on the hull. Sun King Diamond Coating is part of the Jean Boulle group of companies, based in Luxembourg. Its diamond-based coating provides a brilliant finish, and Sun King worked with AkzoNobel for external yacht and private jet applications. In addition to the Sunreef cat, the diamond coating has been applied to a Bombardier Global Express jet and a Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The Sunreef cat is powered by twin 860-hp Mercury Racing sterndrives, and it has a 35-knot cruising speed and the 60-knot top speed. The dual hulls provide stability and comfort throughout the speed range.

Sunreef specializes is customizing its boats. A dining area on the bow of the standard 40 Open has adjustable tables and seating, but an owner also can have a cabin with a double bed forward in one hull and a head in the other.

Aft, you can expand the cat’s 17’ 1” beam with two lateral folding platforms that open out over the water, making it easy to enjoy water sports or diving. Storage areas under the aft sun pads are large enough to hold water toys and diving gear.

And if you don’t want the glitz, Sunreef will build the cat with any hull coating you prefer. Read more:
