Maritimo just announced that it’s building a S75 Sedan Motor Yacht, a new flagship that’s designed for long-range cruising and has an extended “adventure deck” aft that just seems to go on forever.
The four-stateroom, three-head cruiser has a fuel capacity of 2,600 gallons, so it can take you just about anywhere you want to go. Standard power is twin 1,150-hp Scania diesels, with options going up to 1,615-hp MTUs. Because of the Australian builder’s experience with offshore yachts, the fuel is split between two wing tanks with the main tank centered at keel level; that means the boat’s balance won’t be affected as the fuel capacity burns off.
The new S75 also has straight-shaft drive, like other Maritimos, set at a shallow shaft angle for maximum efficiency. The draft is just under five feet, which is impressive for a 75-foot yacht.
Maritimo listened to its owners in designing the new 75. “The S75 sedan motor yacht draws from a wealth of feedback from our owners all over the world,” said Tom Barry-Cotter, Maritimo’s design director, “spanning more than two years of concept development and planning.”
The upper cockpit deck is meant for lounging and dining and is protected by a long overhang from the hardtop. There’s a wet-bar module and a sink, a top-loading fridge and an electric grill, all overlooking the massive adventure deck and large swim platform.
The lazarette under the adventure deck can hold a 10’ 6” tender or gear; the hardtop also can hold a tender, SUPs, kayaks or a crane. From the cockpit, the side decks connect to a sun bed and lounge on the foredeck.
The salon with an aft galley is on the same level as the cockpit; the galley is designed for long stays on board, with home-sized appliances, including a full-height fridge. The salon, with an opening sun roof, has various seating areas, with two captains’ chairs facing the helm.
An atrium-like stairwell leads to the accommodations deck. The master stateroom is full-beam amidships, with a centered king-sized bed and a walk-in dressing area. The panoramic hull-side windows, with opening ports, are the largest that Maritimo has ever made. The master head is luxurious and home-like.
The VIP stateroom is forward, with an offset queen-sized bed so there’s lots of walking-around space. It has its own head. A guest stateroom to port has two berths that can slide together to form a queen. An adjoining head also serves the other guest stateroom to port.
