The Endurance 590, a blue-water cruiser designed to be run by a couple, is the latest member of the Endurance by Hampton Yachts fleet. A sturdy, three-cabin, two-head cruiser, the new 590 is built for comfortable living on board, even on a long cruise.
Experienced cruisers will like a lot of its design features, including a Portuguese bridge for weather protection, a pilothouse with interior stairs to the flybridge, and an open plan that offers unobstructed views from the aft deck settee all the way forward to the pilothouse helm. The walkways are wide and protected overhead, the engine room has standing headroom, and there’s even a day head on the aft deck.
The 590 is the smallest of the Endurance fleet, with five other models going up to 75 feet. But it has the line’s hand-laid solid fiberglass hull, with two layers of Kevlar for extra strength and protection from chine to chine.
The pilothouse has aircraft-type doors on each side, two Pompanette helm chairs, a dinette and settee. The table has a compass rose inlay design. The foredeck has seating forward of the Portuguese bridge.
The aft deck is protected by the overhang from the flybridge, and it’s a social center in its own right, with a settee, fridge, storage and a cabinet with a drop-down 32-inch TV. Doors open to the salon, with picture windows on the sides, an L-shaped sofa, teak table and occasional chairs on the starboard side and two more chairs, a 49-inch TV, and wine cooler to port.
The galley is equipped for a long cruise and has a granite countertop and a forward-facing serving bar with three stools. You can order optional heating for the granite flooring.
Up top, the flybridge has two helm seats and an L-shaped settee and teak table; there’s a grill for entertaining, an ice maker, bar and sink with a Corian countertop. The boat deck aft has a davit that can handle a 1,200 pound tender.
Below, the master stateroom is amidships with a centered king-sized bed, optional seating and vanities and a comfortable en suite head. The VIP stateroom is forward with an island berth, and the guest cabin is on the port side with two berths. The VIP and guest cabin share a lower head.
