Northcoast Boats in Bristol, Rhode Island, just announced that it’s building a new flagship Northcoast 415HT that the company says is “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

The new Northcoast carries traditional, no-frills New England lines and a dedication to seaworthiness and performance. “Our goal is to satisfy the most experienced mariners who choose to own a real boat with a timeless practical design, clean and simple,” said Jose Daponte, owner of Northcoast Boats and C&C Fiberglass Components, Inc.

Powered by four 300-hp Yamaha outboards, the 415HD has a projected top speed of more than 50 mph. The hull has a 25-degree deadrise at the transom.

The first boat is due to be launched this fall. The 415HT was designed by Langan Design Partners in Newport, which usually works on larger sail and power boats. Indeed, Langan has won awards for its superyacht designs.

The 415 comes in two versions, one for fishing, one for cruising. You can board via a door on the port side or a door in the transom. The cockpit is large and clean, with a two-person, aft-facing seat set against the bulkhead leading to the pilothouse. For cruising, you can order a 5-foot-long folding cockpit seat.

The pilothouse has an open layout with a settee and table to port, and a galley with a fridge, freezer, microwave and sink to starboard. The helm has a stainless-steel Edson wheel, two 19-inch Raymarine AXIOM displays, and a two-person helm seat.

An open companionway with wooden stairs leads below, with the main cabin forward behind a mahogany sliding door. It has a queen-sized berth and four opening ports with screens. A second queen-sized berth is under the pilothouse to starboard, and a settee on the port side can be converted to a bunk. Two more people can sleep on the convertible sofa in the pilothouse. The head has a separate shower behind a glass door.

The new Northcoast comes with standard YachtSense digital switching, a bow thruster, Seakeeper gyro stabilizer, and a 9kW generator.
