Tiara is building a new EX 54 express yacht, the second in its EX series after the flagship EX 60 was launched in 2022. The new EX 54 is scheduled to make its public debut at the big Miami boat show that starts on Feb. 14.

The 54 is a three-stateroom, two-head cruiser with an open salon and a modular, customizable aft deck with terraces that fold down on both sides to make it even larger. Standard power comes from twin 725-hp Volvo IPS950 pod drives.

We don’t have any estimated performance figures yet, but the EX 60, with 1,000-hp IPS1350s, tops out at just over 40 knots.

The 54 takes the 60, which is an impressively large yacht, down to what some buyers may view as a more manageable size for a couple or a family, while still retaining all the attributes that made the 60 so popular. Indeed, Tom Slikkers, Tiara’s president and CEO, said the 54 “is a perfectly packaged, luxurious, adventure-focused inboard cruiser.”

“We designed the EX 54 to check every box for our customers when it comes to luxury and flexible design,” said Andrew Bartlett, Tiara’s design chief.

The salon in the 54 has windows all around for excellent visibility for everyone there, at the helm or sitting on the U-shaped settee on the port side, opposite the full galley. A sliding door next to the helm provides immediate access to the starboard side deck.

Glass doors aft lead to the cockpit, while a glass window slides down on the port side to provide more fresh air to the salon and create a more open feeling of joining the salon and aft deck as one continuous unit.

Tiara offers three different modules for the aft deck, for cruising, entertaining, or water sports (read: fishing). An outdoor galley there makes it a major entertaining center in any configuration.

Tiara is one of the oldest boat builders in the U.S. The Slikkers family, with Leon Slikkers as the patriarch, has been making boats in Holland, Michigan, since 1955. The Tiara fleet, a collection of solid, seaworthy and well-crafted vessels, now runs from 34 to 60 feet.
