Sirena Yachts just announced that its new entry-level 48 flybridge will make its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach show, starting March 21. The 48, designed, like all previous Sirenas, by the acclaimed Argentinian naval architect Germán Frers, made its global debut at the Cannes show in September. Since then, Sirena has sold 27 of them, including 13 to American buyers.
The new 48 is the smallest Sirena to date, in a fleet that includes a 58, 68, 78 and 88. “This expansion into the 40-foot sector will complete our lineup in the most competitive area of the market,” said Ali Onger, the CCO of Sirena Yachts.
The 48 may be smaller than its siblings, but it still has the same Sirena family profile with a voluminous hull, raised foredeck, plumb bow and tinted glazing in the superstructure and the squared-off hull windows. Sirenas have a modern trawler look, with more than a nod to the luxury cruiser genre, with a mix of large cabins, massive flybridge and easy-going comfort even on blue-water cruises.
Basically, the Sirena 48 is a three-stateroom, two-head semi-displacement yacht with an efficient hull. With standard twin 550-hp Cummins, the top speed is 27 knots. At its economical cruising speed of 10 knots, it has a range of 477 nm. More powerful twin 670-hp Volvos are options.
The Turkish builder emphasizes that the 48 is a flexible vessel; owners can make several choices to satisfy their individual cruising styles. Sirena offers four different layouts, for example, for the aft deck and transom, working with the glass balustrade aft and then including different seating arrangements, a storage compartment in the transom for water toys, and even a crew cabin with a berth and head back there.
The salon is bright and airy, with large vertical windows and surprising headroom for a flybridge yacht. Two seats face the helm on the starboard side; a door opens to the side deck. A C-shaped dinette to port benefits from the raised deck so it offers views all around. The dinette is aft of the helm seats. Then, a few steps down, the L-shaped galley is set aft so it can serve the cockpit when the sliding glass door is open.
Up on the flybridge, the helm is set behind a large lounging area that can hold half a dozen people. An outdoor galley with an electric grill and fridge are behind the helm, along with more seating.
All the way forward, a massive sun lounge takes up most of the foredeck; it too could hold a crowd. And a three-person bench seat is at the bow.
Below, the master stateroom is full-beam amidships, with a centered bed and large settee under the window on the starboard side and a dressing table against the forward bulkhead. It has a full en suite head and shower. The VIP cabin is forward, and the guest cabin is in the middle. A washer-dryer is tucked out of sight under the companionway stairs.
Sirena also makes a coupe version of the 48 with hybrid power.
