Parker just launched its new 34-foot Sorrento, a versatile outboard-powered sport cruiser with an innovative second cabin located all the way aft.
Parker is a proud Polish builder that traces its roots back to 1886. Its modern incarnation dates to the early 1970s. It now makes 12 models of family boats that have won prizes in Europe and are popular there. It unveiled the new Sorrento at the Düsseldorf show in January.
You can order the Sorrento with twin outboards up to a total of 700 hp. With standard twin 300-hp Mercury outboards, it tops out at 46 knots; with twin 350-hp Mercs, it hits 52 knots. The Sorrento has a twin-stepped hull for performance and efficiency.
Parker has designed the Sorrento to sleep six people. A double berth is in the cabin forward, plus a separate head. A second cabin is aft, under the raised sun pads in the cockpit. You enter it via a hatch that lifts from the seating area and it’s large enough for a double bed with room to sit up. It has some natural light and a spot for changing your clothes or stowing our bags.
Two more people can sleep in the pilothouse; the sofa and dining table can be converted into a double bed.
A large, panoramic sun roof lets in lots of light and fresh air to the pilothouse, which has windows all around. You can reach the foredeck through an opening on the port side; it has a three-person lounge with raised backrests.
The Sorrento is already popular; Parker is producing more than one a week.
