Prestige, the prestigious French builder, will have the latest version of its popular 460 Flybridge yacht on display at the Palm Beach show, which starts on March 21. The two-stateroom, two-head, flybridge yacht, now powered by twin 440-hp Volvo IPS600 pod drives, is designed for easy living inside and out, while at the dock or underway.
You can climb on the 460 via the supersized teak swim platform, and you then can raise or lower it hydraulically, making it easy to enjoy water sports. But then you’ll find a surprise, when a mini outdoor galley, complete with sink and grill, folds out from the transom. Stand on the swim platform in your bathing suit and make a cheeseburger, or whatever.
Two steps up on the port side lead to the cockpit, with a massive L-shaped lounge across the transom and up the starboard side. (This configuration is repeated up top on the flybridge.) A teak table can be lowered and the lounge adjusted to form a huge sun pad back there.
Sliding glass doors open to the salon, with the full galley aft on the starboard side; a tall fridge and freezer are to port. The main social area, a C-shaped lounge with an adjustable table, is forward to port; a three-person settee is opposite. The helm station, with a seat for two, is forward. Push a button and the window next to the captain slides open on the starboard side, just over Volvo’s joystick that makes for fingertip control of low-speed maneuvering.
Below, the master stateroom is full-beam amidships. The bed is centered, and a settee is on the port side. The large windows have opening ports, and the en suite head is appropriate for a luxurious French-built yacht. The VIP cabin is forward; it has a separate door opening to the day head, with a shower.
On the flybridge, the single helm seat is to port, with a large seat/sun pad on the starboard side. Another outdoor grill is up here, with seating for six or eight.
