Now here’s an idea that I really like. Heesen’s new 197-foot superyacht Ultra G has a built-in U Safe smart rescue buoy to save the owner’s dog if the pet falls overboard. It’s built into a hatch on the starboard side just in front of the main steering system. As far as we know, it’s the first such system built into a new boat.
The bright-orange U Safe buoy has already won a DAME design award and an innovation award at the Consumer Electronics Show. It’s self-powered and you can steer it with a remote to reach a pet, or a person, in the water. It’s easy to use, maneuverable, and it can hit a top speed of 9 mph in the water to render fast life-saving help. The Ultra G has smart algorithms to make sure the U Safe’s batteries are always fully charged.
The Ultra-G has another built-in dog-friendly feature, an artificial “grassy” area outside the owner’s stateroom on the upper deck for a dog relief spot. That way the dog won’t ruin the yacht’s teak deck.
Heesen, a major Dutch builder, is proud of the power and speed it has created for Ultra-G. Four MTU diesels produce 22,000 hp and a top speed of 37 knots, a remarkable speed for an almost 200-foot-long luxury superyacht. Ultra G stands out with its low profile, plumb bow, uber-modern lines, desert-sand color and black and red lines. It can sleep ten guests in four cabins.
The owner’s suite on the bridge deck faces aft and opens to a private terrace with a Jacuzzi and seating. The main deck has a formal dining area with an elegant oval table, seating for a dozen and a wine fridge. A media room is forward with a cinema. A terrace is aft for al fresco dining. A wellness area comes with a sauna and a steam room.
The Ultra-G’s custom tender is a smaller replica of the mothership.
