Maserati, the Italian luxury car builder, just announced that it’s making a new 34-foot, electric-powered day boat with low, elegant lines and a matte rose-gold paint job.
Maserati introduced the new boat, called Tridente, at a company event in Rimini, on the Adriatic, where it also unveiled a new electric convertible, the GranCabro Folgore, with a matching color scheme.
For the Tridente, Maserati teamed up with Vita Power in England for a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain. The Tridente was built by Hodgdon Yachts in East Boothbay, Maine. Hodgdon, a 200-year-old family company, worked with Vita last year to make its revolutionary Lion electric boat.
The Tridente has two electric motors producing a total of 600 hp and a 252 kWh lithium ion battery bank. The Tridente has a top speed of 40 knots, and it can cruise at 25 knots for 43 nm before recharging. The Vita package is notable for its fast-charging capabilities. The Tridente can recharge in an hour on DC power.
The yacht has a large touchscreen at the helm, seating for eight (so it could serve as a tender for a megayacht), a sun pad aft, a swim platform, and a small berth, head and sink in the cuddy cabin below. Environmentally friendly, it operates without producing any noise, fumes, or emissions.
Maserati is taking orders for the Tridente now, with the first hulls scheduled for delivery in ten months. Cost: About $2,660,000.
