If you don’t want to leave anything behind while you’re exploring the oceans of the world, take a look at the new expedition yacht now being built by Antonini Navi.
The large Italian yard says its new 143-foot yacht is meant to serve as a yachting version of an automotive Sport Utility Vehicle, so Antonini Navi calls it simply SUY (for Sport Utility Yacht) 135. Powered by twin 1,029-hp MANs, SUY 135 has a range of 4,000 nm at 10 knots; top speed: 16 knots.
The SUY 135 is the first in a new line of expedition yachts from Antonini Navi, aimed at the growing market for long-range, luxury cruisers capable of going anywhere in the world. It has a 33-foot beam, a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, and a 480 gross tons displacement.
Fulvio De Simoni, the superyacht designer, worked with Aldo Manna, an Antonini Navi partner, on the first SUY. “Exactly like an SUV in the automotive world, the SUY offers the opportunity to experience the vessel with no limits,” said Manna. “The idea was created to allow the owner and his guests to enjoy their yacht at 360 degrees, being able to have toys, amenities, tenders and any other means suitable for the many sporting and recreational activities that the sea and its places can offer.”
The SUY 135 can be customized, but in hull number one the owner’s suite is full-beam on the main deck, while four en suite guest cabins are on the lower accommodations deck. A veranda aft on the main deck provides an al fresco dining space, protected by the overhang from the upper deck.
The upper deck has a bar, dining table, sun lounges and a Jacuzzi. The large aft deck has more lounging and sunning areas, plus a Jacuzzi built over the transom. An entire beach club opens up at water level, with more lounging space. The transverse tender garage is large enough to hold a 23-foot RIB and a number of water toys.
