New Rossinavi Cat with Artificial Intelligence

The new 140-foot Rossinavi Seawolf X doesn’t look like your average superyacht catamaran, but that’s the whole idea.

Indeed, Fulvio De Simoni, the Italian design studio that did the cat’s exterior, said the goal was to liberate our minds “from preconceptions” about the way big multihulls should look. “We set out to envision the boat of the future, unbound by convention yet grounded in feasibility with cutting-edge technology for minimal environmental impact,” it said.

For its part, the Genoa-based Rossinavi issued a statement saying that the big cat was its “most innovative project yet,” in that it combines hybrid power and artificial intelligence for sustainable cruising.

“This yacht showcases remarkable technological innovations in both power management and propulsion technologies, marking the beginning of a new chapter in next-generation vessels,” said Rossinavi COO Federico Rossi.

The new cat is made entirely of lightweight aluminum, with the sleek, streamlined profile of a sports car. It’s part of Rossinavi’s Blue series, with hybrid electric power and lots of solar panels that provide enough energy to power the engines and carry the hotel load.

Rossinavi says that Seawolf X can cruise in full electric mode 100 percent of the time on day trips, 90 percent of the time on multi-day trips, and 80 percent of the time on a transatlantic crossing.

The cat has two diesel gensets that can recharge the batteries. They also can be fully recharged from shore power in five hours.

It also has a “hibernation” mode that reduces power while the cat is at anchor or a dock. Any excess power can be transferred to shore. The company says it an generate enough extra power to charge an entire waterfront villa.

A new Rossinavi AI system is designed to analyze the yacht’s operations and then predict the needs of guests and crew to focus on “lower-impact behaviors” and “conscious cruising.” AI also monitors the battery pack, to keep it charged in the 20 to 80 percent range.

Aside from its new technologies, Seawolf X does have some familiar superyacht amenities to make life on board as easy as possible, including a pool in the cockpit, a hidden pool on the foredeck, and a convertible home theater.
