Azimut just launched its new 57-foot, eco-friendly Seadeck 6 at the Venice boat show, the debut of the Italian builder’s new series of low-emission, sustainable motoryachts. Azimut says the new Seadeck series yachts are built to reduce emissions by as much as 40 percent a year, when compared to conventional yachts the same size.
The new Seadeck 6 provides zero-emissions at anchor or while cruising with the generator off. Its hotel mode is based on a 42-kWh lithium battery pack and an alternator connected to one of the three 480-hp Volvo IPS650 engines. At anchor, the zero-emissions mode can last up to four hours during the day and eight hours at night. While cruising, the generator can be kept off while the stabilizers and the air conditioning can work for up to eight hours. The next boat in the series, the Seadeck 7, will have a full-hybrid system when it’s launched in September.
The new Seadeck 6 is also a lightweight for its size. Indeed, it uses carbon fiber laminates for 40 percent of its surface, including the deck house, roof, wings, swim platform and Fun Island aft, and most the main deck. And 30 percent of the hull is made from R-PET repurposed raw materials, with 15,000 recycled plastic bottles replacing traditional PVC.
The Seadeck series also uses sustainable sources with natural or recycled origins to replace traditional materials, including cork, instead of teak, on the decks. On the lower deck, carpeting is made from silk-like moquette with repurposed raw materials.
For accommodations, the Seadeck 6 has three cabins for six people on the lower deck, plus a crew cabin. The owner’s stateroom is full-beam amidships, with a walkaround bed set athwartships on the starboard side and a lounge to port; the head is aft. The VIP cabin is forward with private access to the second head, and a guest cabin with two beds is on the starboard side. The crew cabin, with one berth and a head, is just forward of the engine room.
In the salon, two seats face the helm on the starboard side. An oversized L-shaped lounge, a table and settees are aft, with the galley all the way aft, so it can serve the cockpit as well.
Terraces fold out of both sides of the aft deck, and a large social center, the Fun island, is built in just above the swim platform.
The three Volvos produce a top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots.
