OTAM, the boutique Italian builder, is completing its new 90 GTS the flagship of its Fast and Iconic series. The new OTAM will make its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

OTAM, with its  yard in Genoa, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year; it’s made about 90 fast and iconic performance yachts, with a fleet that now stretches from 45 to 130 feet.

The company says the new 90 GTS is a combination of space, style and luxury, with a lot of custom touches. The  helm, for example, is inspired by Formula 1 race cars, with a carbon fiber structure and a protective halo shape. It has an integrated and independent cooling system to keep the electronics at a constant temperature. And the air intakes on the front of the yacht and on the hardtop are designed to resemble air scoops on high-end performance cars.

The hull is coated with a custom silver metallic paint with bronze accents that was developed for the owner by Awlgrip, who is adding the new OTAM to his private fleet.

Power comes from twin 2,600-hp MTU V12 engines, paired to Arneson surface drives. Top speed is more than 40 knots.

The boat is light for its size. The hull is made of Aramat, a multi-layer composite fabric combining fiberglass and Kevlar for optimal stiffness and light weight. The hardtop is made of carbon fiber.

The layout has three cabins on the accommodations with the owner’s stateroom set full beam amidships, the VIP cabin forward and the third a bit aft of a lower lounge.

The main deck includes a large cockpit with an opening hardtop, with a custom sunbathing area leading down to the large swim platform. The garage can hold a 14-foot tender. A large dinette and lounging area are forward in the salon.

OTAM is also making a new 80, designed by Nuvolari Lenard, also with twin 2,600-hp MTU engines and Arneson drives, that will be launched next March. It’s expected to top out at 47 knots.
