Bavaria Building New SR33 Sport Cruiser

Bavaria Yachts, the German builder of well-designed power and sail yachts, just unveiled its new SR33 sport cruiser with its low profile and lots of space for relaxing on board. The 33 follows the successful introduction of Bavaria’s SR36 at the Düsseldorf show last January, and is the smallest in the SR line, which also has a 41. The new SR33 will make its world debut at the Düsseldorf show next January.

The SR33 is marked by a low windshield that contributes to the sporty look. The 33, like the others in the SR line, was developed by Marco Casali, the Italian-Danish head of TOO Design in Rome who’s also designed scores of luxury yachts and catamarans.

Beate Wirtky, the Bavaria product manager, says, “With its modern design, high-quality workmanship and proven SR philosophy, the SR33 Open Top will certainly appeal to many powerboat enthusiasts.”

The helm deck offers 360-degree visibility from windows all around, and a slash of glazing in the hull serves both as a design element and as a means of providing light to the lounge, galley and cabin below.

The new Bavaria SR33 has the usual large sun pad on the bow, but the stainless steel rails leading aft are unusually high for safety when moving around the boat. The aft deck is a versatile outdoor space, with a sun lounge, a settee and a cocktail table; if you lower the table, it converts to a large sun pad adding to the beach terrace vibe leading to the large teak swim platform.

Below, the SR33 has one stateroom and one head. There’s a large bed in the bow for a couple behind privacy curtains. With the curtains open, the forward space joins a lower salon with a settee and table on the port side and the galley to starboard. You can lower the table to create another sleeping space.

Power options include twin 250- to 350-hp Volvo Penta or MerCruiser sterndrives.

Specs.: LOA: 37’4”; Beam: 11’3”; Draft: 2’8”; Disp.: NA; Fuel: 132 gals.; Water: 66 gals.; Power: 2×250-350-hp Volvo or MerCruiser sterndrives.
