Pershing Launches New GTX80 Sports Yacht

Pershing just launched its new GTX80, the latest luxury performance cruiser in its GTX sports yacht series. With three 1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 pod drives, the new 80-foot Pershing tops out at 34 knots, cruises at 28 knots, and has a range of 300 nm at 26 knots.

But the new GTX80, like all other Pershings, is about much more than numbers. Indeed, the brand, part of the Ferretti Group, is known for its flowing lines and head-turning style as much it is for its performance.

On the outside, the long, low, dynamic hull profile is marked by an almost vertical bow and a long, slightly convex sheer. The Pershing grey color of the hull contrasts with the darker grey of the superstructure and the polished carbon-fiber on the hardtop.

On the inside, you’ll find leather sofas, strips of LED lights in the salon that contrast with silk-grey colored wooden panels, metallic-lacquer finished accessories, and sky-blue leather panels in the midships master stateroom, where the head has metallic lacquered panels on the walls and black accessories.

The main deck of the new GTX80 is laid out on two levels on the stern; the upper one for outdoor relaxing, the lower one for contact with the water. Two lateral terraces open out from the sides on the lower level to create a large beach club area. And the swim platform has three positions; the default, to launch tenders; raised, so that it extends and integrates with the side terraces; and raised even more so it’s level with the aft deck with a dining area and free-standing chairs.

The galley is aft on the port side of the open-plan salon, so it can easily serve the aft deck. It’s large and long, with bar stools at both ends. A dining area is opposite, and the lower helm is forward and raised, with two helm chairs. Visibility is 360-degrees, via a large windshield forward, deep side windows, and extensive glazing. A sunroof is overhead for even more light, or fresh air when opened.

Up top, the sportbridge has an upper helm with three chairs and an outdoor dining area with a full wet bar under the carbon-fiber hardtop. A full-beam sun pad is aft. Another lounging area on the foredeck converts to a large sun pad with a pair of tables.

The basic accommodations plan below calls for four cabins, all with en suite heads, although a dinette and day head can be ordered to replace the fourth guest cabin on the starboard side.

The Pershing GTX80 was launched a few weeks ago. It will make its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
