This week, Jeff Druek, President and CEO of Outer Reef Yachts, announced the introduction of the new, re-engineered Outer Reef 650 Classic Motoryacht, which is the smallest model in the company’s M Class yachts.

Druek noted that the 650’s sistership, the 700 Classic Motoryacht, has long been the most popular model in the series. Yet, he and his team had often heard from owners and customers the need for a smaller version.

“For those who desire the attributes of the 700 in a smaller yacht,” he said, “whether due to slip size, itinerary restrictions, handling preferences, and more, Outer Reef presents a re-engineered model capturing attractive and useful design cues from her larger sistership.”

The new 650 is a spacious, four-stateroom, four-and-a-half head offshore quality yacht that is built for owner-operators who have extensive cruising and live-aboard plans.

The new 650 was given a larger galley with a more open plan, similar to the galley on the 700. Plus, the galley has room for full-size appliances.

A day head has been designed into the salon for convenience, in addition to the en-suite heads with each stateroom.

The after cabin, for crew or to be used as a guest cabin, has been enlarged and provided with an internal staircase. This innovation is what transformed the 650 into a four-stateroom yacht.

The 650 Classic is powered by twin John Deere 6090 500-horsepower diesels with ZF transmissions. Normal cruising speeds will be between 9 and 15.5 knots, with a maximum speed of 19.5 knots. Carrying 2,000 gallons of diesel in the tanks, the 650’s range will be extensive.

For owner operators or couples who like to sail with one or two crew, the newly re-engineers 650 has a lot of new qualities that will be most appealing.  Read more here.
