Coming to America this fall for a debut at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show in October, the new Riviera 6800 Platinum Edition represents the pinnacle of design, style and engineering from this highly regarded Australian builder.
Now in their 44th year, Riviera, based on Australia’s Gold Coast, has launched more than 6,000 motor yachts and is distributed through dealers around the world. The Sport Yacht line, one of five on the builder’s product list, is comprised of family cruising sedans with multiple living and lounging spaces.
Rebranding the Sport Yacht line as the new Platinum Edition emphasizes the long list of upgrades that have been incorporated into this already popular design. Everything from the Volvo IPS Docking System to the stainless-steel deck fittings to the gleaming new color palettes for fabrics and décor set the 6800 apart.
The cockpit aft has a new hard top with a sliding sunroof so you can have full UV or rain protection in the outdoor space or you can lie back and enjoy the sun, moon and stars. With the salon door open and the electric windows at the galley lowered, the whole living space –cockpit, salon and galley –becomes one large indoor-outdoor room.
Under the cockpit, Riviera has built a full beam-width dinghy garage that is spacious enough for the dinghy plus a full compliment of water toys. This opens up to the large stern platform.
The 6800 comes with either three or four cabins and three heads. A crew’s cabin is an option. With the large glazing in the hull, the sleeping cabins are full of natural light and have wide open views of the seascapes around the boat.
The 6800 Sport Yacht is powered by twin Volvo D13 IPS drives rated at 1,000 horsepower each, so the modified deep-V hull will get up onto a plane quickly and will run efficiently at 25 knots or more. With the Volvo Docking System, maneuvering the boat in and out of marina slips will be child’s play.
