Introducing the New Saxdor 340 GTWA Spacious Weekender

The Finnish boat builder Saxdor introduced their new 34-foot this year to acclaim. The boat was awarded a Finish Design Innovation Award and it has been nominated for the prestigious European Power Boat of the Year Award.

But such elevated status should not be too much of surprise given the company’s pedigree. Saxdor was founded by Sakari Mattila who was also a founder of  Aquador, Paragon, XO Boats and the incredibly successful Axopar. The. new boats Mattila is building in Finland and Poland are brimming over with high-tech, high-speed powerboat DNA.

The new 34 GTWA is one of the few pilothouse cruisers in this size range that has roomy walk-around side decks. The bulwarks are high so you will feel secure in all conditions; the port side deck leads forward to the bow-dinette and lounge area.

The design calls for as much exterior living space as possible so fold-down balconies have been added to the aft cockpit doubling its square footage. Between the forward lounge, the aft cockpit and the pilothouse, you could fit a dozen friends aboard for swimming parties and sundowners.

The pilothouse can be buttoned-up in cool and rainy weather, making the 340 a full three-season boat.  But, in warm conditions, the front half of the roof can slide back for an indoor-outdoor ambience and plenty of fresh air.

One feature that will be very appealing for owners is the side doors on both side of the pilot house that give both skipper and crew instant side-deck access for docking or just going forward to the lounge.

The 340 has a double V-berth in the little cabin and a fully enclosed head.

Saxdors are all about performance. With twin Mercury Verados on the 21-degree dead-rise, two-step hull 50 knots will be entirely possible and the ride will be soft and smooth.

Finland has become a Mecca for sporty, speedy high-tech cruisers with angular modern designs. Saxdor is a perfect example of the type. And Mittiila can pat himself on the back for being a pioneer of this new trend in boating. It’s even catching on in the U.S.A. Read more here.
