While we don’t normally cover yachts of this size, preferring to focus on our core owner-operator readership, but this is an exception in no small part because it comes from the Turkish builder Sirena Yachts.

At the Ft. Lauderdale International Boats Show, Sirena’s management team hosted a reception so they could introduce the Sirena 88, which had not been shown in the U.S. before, and launch the design for the Sirena 118.

We often think of Sirena as a builder of family cruising boats in the 48 to 68-foot range. These stylish designs with plumb bows and very angular, muscular shapes have truly defined a new age in motor yacht design. It is hard to believe that they have only been building the Sirena line of yacht for a decade.

So, the 88 is a massive cruising boat that probably will require either a very experienced owner-operator or a crew. I suspect mostly the latter. The design has three levels with the sleeping cabins below decks, except for the master stateroom suite that is on the main salon level.

The salon is huge and opens out to a large cockpit that is partially covered by the flybridge deck. This is where guests will live most of the time. The flybridge has two lounges and plenty of room for sunbathing,

All in all, the 88 is a big, handsome, stylish cruiser that will make wonderful live-aboard home.

Now to the 118. The Sirena team said that the new large yacht was conceived to fill the space in their line between the 88 and the new 130-footer that is now in build. The company’s intention is to focus on building larger yachts, while still delivering their family cruisers in the over 48-foot range.

To be honest, the return on investment in building lager yachts is significantly better than in the smaller yacht range.  After a decade, Sirena’s reputation has opened up this rarified yacht market for the builder.

The 118 is going to be a very stylish and handsome four-level yacht in the mini-mega-yacht category. It will require crew and is set up to be comfortable for 12 guests. As in the 88, the owner’s master suite is on the main salon level and stretches to the hull’s full beam. This is a massive cabin with amazing views through the floor to ceiling windows.

A spiral staircase leads from the salon to the lower cabins while another staircase leads up to the upper deck and lounge area. It is possible to climb from the lower level to the flybridge without going outside, which will be much appreciated in inclement weather.

So, for Sirena, FLIBS marked the beginning of a new decade for Sirena and the move into the larger yacht category. If their past success is an indicator of what’s to come, the new Sirena Yachts will be inspiring. Read more here.
