Aquila to Launch Two New Coupe Models at Miami Show.

This February at the Miami International Boat Show, Aquila will introduce two new coupe models, the 42C and 46C. The two models are the beginning of a whole new coupe-style performance cruiser line with truly innovative hulls.

The boats have fairly narrow beams as better performance dictates. The hulls have double chines or steps that reduce wetted surface and improve planning performance. The addition of  foils between the hulls, one forward and one aft helps lift the boats partially out of the water but not clear of it. In combination with the hull shapes, the foils will greatly facilitate rising onto a plane.

The boats are going to be offered with twin outboards or twin inboard out-drives. The 42C will have Mercury V-10 Verados or Volvo D6 DPIs rated at 380 horsepower each. The 46C can have twin Verado V12s or Volvo sterndrives rated at 440-horsepower each. Aquila says both boats will be able to exceed 40 knots and will have ranges of over 300 miles on a full fuel tank.

The cruising interiors of both boats make use of the fairly narrow beams by eliminating side decks and pushing the salon out to the full width. Access to the foredeck is via a door at the forward end of the salon.

With the helm station forward to starboard, there is a large dinette and a spacious galley aft and an large sliding door to the cockpit.

The accommodation plans shows both boats with two cabins with en-suite heads. Naturally, the 46C will be roomier but that takes nothing away from the pleasant size of the cabins on the 42C.

In North America, both designs will be fast, capable cruisers for Intracoastal Water, the Great Loop or the Canadian Maritime Loop via the St. Lawrence Seaway.  Read more here.
