Vicem Yachts has been building stylish Downeast style cruisers in Turkey since 1991 and is one of the leaders of the boat building revolution that has taken place in the eastern Mediterranean country.
Hull number one of the new 65 Classic takes all of the Vicem DNA and imbues it into a couple’s cruising boat that is both traditional in styling and thoroughly modern by design. The hull is GRP instead of cold-molded, so Vicem is able to make the boats in series. Hulls number two and three are now in build.
While the hulls of the 65 remain standard, owners have the ability to entirely customize interiors. The craftsmanship Vicem is famous for can adapt the interior spaces in many ways while the builder’s engineering experience can help owners come to sensible and efficient solutions.
As Vicem notes, you can choose to have the galley in the salon or down in the hull or you can place it aft next to the cockpit. The dinette will then be placed accordingly and can be configured to become a double bed for overflow guests.
The first 65 Classic was delivered to an American customer who chose to have the galley installed transversely at the forward end of the salon so those fixing dinks and dinner will be socially connected to those who are relaxing just aft in the L-shaped dinette.
The salon has doors to the side decks on both sides making docking with just a crew of two or three much easier. This also makes traveling from the salon to the foredeck lounging areas more efficient.
The 65 Classic was designed with three sleeping cabins each with its own head. This can be customized to a family’s needs. The master cabin is amidships and occupies the hull’s full beam for a truly spacious and homey feel. One of the innovations Vicem came up with is the large hull glazing that fills the cabins with natural light and provides expansive views of the watery seascapes around you.
The 65 Classic is powered by twin 1,400 horsepower Mann diesels that will give a top end speed of over 25 knots and a comfortable and efficient cruising speed at 18 to 20 knots.
With classic sweeping lines, tumblehome at the stern and a pleasing marriage of hull and salon, the 65 Classic embodies the look and quality that has attracted customers from all over the world for the past three decades. Read more here.
