Sneak Peek at the New Aquila Coupe 42 and 46

In February at the Miami International Boat Show, Aquiia Catamarans will introduce the new Couple 42 and Coupe 46. But, here’s a sneak peek at what Aquila has in store for us.

Both cats are sleek outboard or inboard-powered speedsters with a low air draft and spacious forward cockpits. With two staterooms and en suite heads, both are proper cruising boats that will blow your hair back as you jet from one cruising landfall to the next.

The new designs make good use of Aquila’s trademark double-stepped hull configuration and the Hydro Glide Foil System. The hulls are configured to create an air pressure zone under the bridge deck that lifts the hulls and provides a cushion as the boat glides over and through the waves.

At cruising speeds, the Hydro Glide Foil System softens the ride and improves fuel efficiency. At wide-open-throttle, the Foil effect keeps the hulls level and enhances stability. These qualities, enhanced by the natural efficiency of narrow power cat hulls, create a cruising platform that will be safe and comfortable in a wide range of conditions.

The 42 has a full 16 feet of beam and a huge one-level cockpit and salon that emphasize outdoor living, entertaining and weekend cruising. The large opening sunroof adds to the sensation of being one with the marine world around you.

Like the 42, the new 46 is a sport coupe with the emphasis on “sport.”  It exhibits all the performance of the 42 but in a bigger and more expansive form. The indoor-outdoor design on one level will be perfect in good weather but it can also be converted to a fully enclosed salon so you can retreat to this comfortable sanctuary when the weather turns wet or cool.

Both of the new designs have low air drafts so they will be perfect for canal and waterway cruising and for longer excursions such a tour of the Great Loop.  To be introduced in Miami, the new Coupes mark a significant step forward for this leading builder of thoroughly modern cruising power catamarans.
