From February 12 through the 16th, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show takes over the city of Miami and Miami Beach to create one of the world’s largest in-the-water boats shows.

The show is produced by Informa Markets and owned by the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association and the International Yacht Broker’s Association. The show expects more than 100,000 people to attend over the course of four days.

More than a thousand brands will be on display and attendees will have a chance to climb aboard and ogle over a thousand boats, both in the water and on dry land. The largest boat on display will be the 279-foot super yacht Bold that has been named Queen of the Show and will be moored in the IYGY Yacht Haven Grand Marina SuperYacht section of the show.

The show is divided into four main sections. Following several years of renovations, the Miami Beach Convention Center is part of the show again and hosts dozens of smaller power boats, the marine electronics center and dozens of gear and equipment companies.

The main in-the-water section of the show is at Herald Plaza in downtown Miami. You’ll find hundreds of boats of all size from 25 to 90 feet or so. Notable new boats being introduced this year include the new Aquila 42 and 46 Coupe power catamarans, the new Tiara 56 LS, the  Vanquish 70 and many more.

For sailboats and catamarans, you can travel by water taxi from Herald Plaza to the Museum Park Marina about half a mile south. This is the smallest section of the show but if you are looking for a sailing catamaran of one of the monohulls from the world’s largest builders, this will be your stop.

While next week in Miami is all about boats, the city also offers lots of fun nightlife attractions. In Miami Beach, there’s the restaurants and night clubs along Ocean Drive. In central Miami the Wynwood neighborhood has become an arts ands restaurant mecca. And south of the city, the  Brickell neighborhood is a great destination after the show and is an easy ride on the Miami People Mover elevated train.

Miami in February is the place for boat lovers to be.
