Every. Since the Aquila brand emerged on the market, it has been known for it’s constant innovation in the realm of power cats. The designers created angular lines and large windows and vast living spaces in catamarans that decidedly unique. The concept caught on. Today, Aquila is one of the world’s largest builders of cruising power cats.
Now they have broken the mold again by introducing the new 46 Coupe and it’s little sister the 42 Coupe. The bigger of the two shows just how much they can do inside a 46-foot high performance cruising cat.
First, the 46 is outboard driven and make good use of Aquila’s trademark double-stepped hull configuration and the Hydro Glide Foil System. The hulls are configured to create an air pressure zone under the bridge deck that lifts the hulls and provides a cushion as the boat glides over and through the waves.
At cruising speeds, the Hydro Glide Foil System softens the ride and improves fuel efficiency. At wide-open-throttle, the Foil effect keeps the hulls level and enhances stability. These qualities, enhanced by the natural efficiency of narrow power cat hulls, create a cruising platform that will be safe and comfortable in a wide range of conditions.
The 46 is a true indoor-outdoor boat with a large sunken cockpit forward, a spacious aft cockpit and an bar with stools at the back end of the salon. In fine weather you can leave the salon open but during the evening, or in inclement weather, it can be snugly buttoned up
For day trips, you could get a real crowd of friends aboard for harbor touring, swimming and sunning. But the 46 can also be a fast, seaworthy performance cruiser that will handle rough seas and provide living spaces for a family of four.
The sleeping cabins are spacious, too, and have giant windows that let in a lot of light and provide great vistas. Throughout the 46, the décor and finish are ultra-modern and trendy.
The coupe design means the 46 has an air draft low enough for owners who may want to explore America’s Great Loop.
The Aquila 46 Coupe tries to do a lot of different things to meet the needs of various owners. And, it looks like it succeeds in that inimitable Aquila way
