Following the announcement in January that Sirena Yachts, the noted Turkish builder of modern motor yachts, that the comp[any was retiring the 58 and replacing it with the all-new 60. Few details were available to the time so our initial preview was brief.

Since then, Sirena has released more information and a host of renderings of the new design that reveal its character and many interesting details. Designed by German Frers, the new 60 is a long-range cruiser with a three-cabin, three-head layout. Plus, a crew’s cabin can be tucked in under the cockpit.

Sirena is striving for a boat that can operate in three different modes. At efficiency speeds, the 60 will have a great range and will be a platform for long excursions and even expeditions. At moderate speeds, fuel efficiency will go down but the power plants will still be one of the most efficient in this size range. Finally, at planning speeds, the 60 will get you to yuor destination at 30 knots.

The 60 concept emphasizes outdoor living spaces with a large dinette on the flybridge, a spacious sunning area on the fore deck and a lounge and dining area in the aft cockpit.  This last space joins the huge after swim platform to form a beach club environment

The salon has the galley aft where it is convenient to both the after cockpit dining area and the dinette inside. Plus, the stairs to the flybridge are right next to the sliding glass door so the cockpit so ferrying cocktails and meals to the upper dinette will be easy.

The helm is forward and has twin bucket seats and excellent visibility though the windscreens forward and the huge salon windows both sides.  The 60 will be powered by twin Volvo D11s as standard and with the Volvo dynamic positioning and docking joystick functions it will be a dream to dock and undock from this inside helm. The engines can be upgraded to D13s for additional top end speed.

The new 60 will be comfortable for a family to live aboard for extended vacations. The master suite is amidships and uses the boat’s full beam to create a large, elegant space that is full of natural light from the rectangular hull glazing.

The VIP guest cabin is forward and has a centerline double berth and its own head and shower. The third cabin has twin beds and a smaller head and will mostly likely be the children’s cabin. Still, a family of four will find they have plenty of private space of their own.

The Sirena 58 was a ground breaker for the company. Now only 11 years old, Sirena had firmly established itself as an industry innovator and leader. The new 60 should propel them firmly into their second decade.
