The Nordhavn 71 has been the topic of much excitement since the design was first released in 2023. The 71 joins the 51 and the 625 as models that are delivered as complete boats with all systems, electronics and amenities built in. Not exactly “production” boats but semi-custom models that each has a strong family resemblance.
But, each 71 is an owner’s own unique yacht that reflects their personal style and cruising preferences. In the photos of the 71 number three, you can see the southwestern, Texas tastes of the new owners who hail from the Lone Star State. The net result for the 71 is that you get the efficiencies and proven systems of the basic boats combined with your own personality.
As Nordhavn President Dan Streech notes on the Nordhavn website, “With just three boats finished, PAE is already seeing benefits from offering the Nordhavn 71 as a mostly-complete boat. The aforementioned ease in the order process not only eliminates stress in having to make choices, it also eliminates the need for change orders…which dramatically reduces the chances for errors. From there the advantages are exponential: build time is condensed and extra costs typically associated with changes and customizations are curbed. It’s no coincidence that the first three Nordhavn 71s have been completed and shipped from the factory in just over a 12-month span. “
The 71 was conceived to be an owner-operator cruising boat so everything is set up for a small crew that will handle all boating tasks. Starting with the bridge, you have a truly ship-like space for navigating the boat in all weather. Note the door on the port side to the side deck which will make docking and mooring easy.
Visibility forward and to the sides is excellent and instrumentation is set up for multiple glass screens so you can eye-ball navigate when you need to and fly on instruments in limited visibility. The bridge has an off-watch berth and a raised table where friends and family can congregate while under way.
The salon had the home-style galley forward, the dining table amidships and the main living area aft where it can join the social space in the cockpit view the sliding doors. This style salon really evokes a sense of home while you are afloat.
The flybridge is one of the areas where owners can do some customization and choose wioth either have an enclosed sky loune or opt fo the m,ore conventional open bridge. In hull number three the owner chose to have an open brisge with a large raised Jacuzzi right in the middle.
The living spaces below decks are lagrge and sumptuous. The master suite uses the hull’s full beam while the guest cabins are slightly smaller but amply spacious.
