The new Arksen 85 is billed by the company as the ultimate long-range explorer. It was conceived to satisfy the needs of modern adventurers, those mavericks with a twinkle in their eyes and the means to make big adventures come to fruition.

The 85 is the company’s flagship. It is built of aluminum and engineered to be strong and safe enough to tackle the ice sheet of Greenland or the bergs of the Northwest Passage. According to the builder, the 85 is built with ut to 70% recycled metal and, when its useful life is done, all that aluminum can be recycled again.

The boats are built on a semi-custom basis so the accommodations can be set up for eight to 14 guests. The point is, that if the vessel is to be used for expeditions, scientific or otherwise, and will include a large team, the builders can create an 85 that fills that requirement.

Or, they can build the boat as a rugged, business-like private yacht for an adventurous family and maybe a skipper and crew to safely cruise around the world.

The 85 will have extremely long range of 7,000 to 8,000 nautical miles or more at efficient cruising speeds between 9 and 14 knots. That means, you could leave New York and cruise to Greenland, Iceland, England and all the way home again on one tank of diesel.

Arksen is launching a new 85 this summer and they have create a fractional ownership program for indiviuals or couples to buy into the boat and earn time aboard. If you can take off a month at a time, then a program like this could go a long way to fulfilling adventurous dreams while you are still working.
