New Sialia 45 Electric Cruiser Dishes Up Impressive Combination of Speed and Range

We’ve been covering the Sialia project for a year now and have had a chance to spend time on the first all-electric cruiser from the builder at last year’s Ft. Lauderdale boat show. The reason for our continued attention is simply that the company’s founders may well have found the holy grail of electric boats: extended range and high top speed.

The Sialia 45 is being built in Poland and will be launched in a few weeks. This boat is the culmination of years of work on hull design, advanced composite construction and the latest in battery power and electric propulsion systems.

Wrap you head around this; the new 45 will have a range of 55 miles at 25 knots and with the endurance battery pack the range more than doubles to 130 miles. At full throttle, its top end will be 43 knots or so.  Nothing like this has been achieved before.

“Creating one of the world’s most advanced electric yachts is no ordinary task. Every system on board demands meticulous testing, precise calibration, and the integration of pioneering technologies in this class,” said Milvio Ricci, Chief Commercial Officer at Sialia Yachts.

“From her hull and deck to the installation of cutting-edge systems and software, including the proprietary ship management system and Ampros propulsion, every detail is crafted with uncompromising dedication.”

“Originally, we planned to launch the first yacht in summer, but decided to extend the timeline,” adds Ricci. “It is not a delay; it is a choice to ensure the Sialia 45 exceeds every expectation. When she sets sail, she will not just join the world of electric yachting, she will redefine it.”

The first 45 will be in the Sport configuration. It will be a center-console, walk-around deck layout with a sunbed on the bow, a partially enclosed cockpit and an outdoor dinette at the stern. The accommodation in the cuddy cabin will have a V-berth forward, a small galley and an enclosed head and shower.  It is a day boat with weekend cruising capabilities.

The boat will be available in three models, the Sport, the Runabout and the Weekender. The Runabout is an open boat without a cockpit top and will be a good day boat for water skiing and tubing and ferrying friends to nearby beaches. The Weekender is an all-weather, three-season cruiser with a cockpit that can be fully enclosed and air conditioned or heated as needed.

The 45 is the latest design from the team and joins the 59 and 80. Yet, the 45 represents the ultimate goal for the company in that it makes full use of the developed technology and achieves the lofty goals originally set for Sailia.
