The Swift Trawler 37 sedan replaced the venerable 35 and has established itself as a leader in the mid-size trawler market around the world. With top speeds of over 20 knots and efficient cruising speeds in the mid-teens, the 37 has proven that trawler cruising does not have to be equal to slow cruising.
This year, Beneteau is debuting their new Swift Trawler 37 Fly which adds a bridge and upper lounge to the design. This new feature effectively increases usable social spaces by about 30 percent and gives the navigator a raised helm for eyeball conning and docking.
The Dixon Yacht Design team and Beneteau’s engineers have managed to design a flybridge that fits very neatly and unobtrusively atop the salon’s roof. It does not make the boat look like a three-tiered wedding cake, top heavy and awkward. This is no small design feat in a boat of this size.
The rest of the original 37 remains the same with a roomy saloon and an inside helm with a wide seat and a door to starboard and a double co-pilot seat to port.
Below there is a master cabin in the bow and a nifty upper and lower berth guest cabin just aft. The two cabins share a head and shower. Inside the 37-foot envelope, these cabins feel roomy and larger than expected.
The 37 Fly has a single-engine, straight shaft propulsion system that sports a 440-horsepower maximum engine. Smaller power plants are also available for the more efficient running.
An eco-friendly option available on the 37 Fly is the Silent Running system that allows you to run all of the trawler’s hotel functions –lights, electronics, stove, pumps and more—without running the genset.
The system is powered by a large array of solar panels on the front of the flybridge that charges an enhanced battery bank. Your guests and the crews of boats anchored near you will be grateful for this Silent Running option.
Beneteau has been building sea kindly and robust power and sailboats for more than 140 years. The new Swift Trawler 37 Fly carries all of that DNA in a thoroughly modern family cruiser.
