Tiara just launched the largest of its outboard boats, the Tiara 43 LS, powered by three 425-hp Yamahas. The upscale new Tiara tops out at more than 46 knots, and it has more than enough creature comforts, including accommodations for four below, to make cruising easy and comfortable as well as fast.
The 43 is Tiara’s third model in its LS series, and is one of the latest entries in the ever-growing outboard-powered cruising boat market. Back Cove, for example, just announced that it’s working on a new outboard 39, while MJM, Hinckley, Ocean Alexander, Wilbur and Ranger Tugs, among many other builders, already offer a variety of outboard boats.
The Tiara 43 has a low profile and aggressive styling, and it builds on Tiara’s reputation for quality and performance. In keeping with the latest trend, it also has multiple social zones, from stem to stern. The bow, for example, has luxurious wrap-around seating and a reclining lounge. The helm seats four comfortably, with large bolster seats that can fold up or down, while an innovative U-shaped lounge aft rotates to that passengers can face forward or aft, to enjoy the view underway or to participate in water sports on the hook.
A boarding door on the port side gives immediate access to the water, while the galley in a console behind the helm, fully equipped with a sink, fridge and large countertop, makes al fresco dining easy. One nice touch: Push a button and the TV drops down from the hardtop.
Below, there’s a double berth forward and a another tucked under the helm, plus a head and shower. I walked through the boat at the Newport International Boat Show, and I thought it had a lot going on for a 43-foot boat; it seemed bigger than its size. And Tiara’s quality was on display inside and out.
